Xinjiang in the West of China
The culture of the Uyghurs, the indigenous population of this Western province in China, is under threat. Xinjiang is repopulated or invaded by Han Chinese and millions of Uyghurs are prisoned in re-education camps.
This trip from Pakistan to China via the Karakoram Highway took place in 2001. A lot has changed since then.
